He was born Jan. 10, 19 30, in SUnbury, a son of the late William and Mae Basonm Kantner. In 195 7, in Trinity United Methodist Church of Bellefonte, he married Betty A . Stover, who survives at home. He was a 1948 graduate of Selinsgrove Hi gh School, a 1953 graduate of Lock Haven State Teachers College with a ba chelor of science degree in elementary education, a 1956 graduate of Buck nell University with a master of science degree in school administratio n and a 1973 graduate of Penn State with a doctorate in education wit h a major in elementary education. For 12 years he taught in the Selinsg rove Area School District. He served in various administrative position s for the Bellefonte Area School District, including elementary prinicpal , director of elementary education and personnel director, retiring in 19 89. He was a member of Centre Country Chapter of Gideons International . He was the past president of Centre County Association of School Retir ees. He had taught the 55/Alive safe driving course for the American Ass ociation of Retired Persons. He served on the boards of directors for Sk ills Inc., R.S.V.P., a volunteer organization in the Centre Region; Centr e Community Hospital and Counseling Service Inc. He was a member of Trin ity United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years . He also served as lay leader and was a member of the board of trustee s and the administrative board of the church. In addition to his wife, h e is survived by two daughters, Lisa Schwartz of Bangor and Susan Clouse r of Bellefonte; a son, David of Lancaster; and four grandchildren. Visi tation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Wetzler Funeral Home, 206 N. Sp ring St., Bellefonte, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdayat Trinity United Met hodist Church, Bellefonte. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at th e church, with Rev. James F. Fox officiating. Burial will be in Centre C ounty Memorial Park in College Township. Memorial contributions may be m ade to Bellefonte Trinity United Methodist Church elevator fund, 128 W. H oward St., Bellefonte, Pa. 16823."
